Why the Unknown Warning from the Windows Installer?

[need screenshot here to show what this is referencing]

We're too stingy to buy a certificate and too lazy to learn how to implement it even if we had it.

This really bothered us at first, until we started noticing that lots of software even from very large corporations sports this same warning. So we'll probably keep ignoring this issue and focus on more important issues, for as long as the market allows us to.

Why am I Getting Firewall Messages on Installation? Can I Dis-Allow?

[need screenshot here to show what this is referencing]

It is possible but not tested that JournalBetter works fine in it's Alpha release without allowing it to communicate over the internet.

JournalBetter is designed on the inside for collaboration with other users on the same data, and also designed to be able to see your data across several devices such as your IPhone. This is why you get the message that JournalBetter is communicating over the web.

These features are still far away, so you may be able to use JournalBetter fine without any firewall openings at all. We haven't tested it though.

Does an Uninstall Remove Everything From A Windows Machine?

No, but almost. This is by design.

It removes the entire program, which is installed in [Program Files].

Your data remains in your user directory in [user directory]/.journalbetter and must be deleted manually if every last megabyte matters to you. This behavior may be modified in future releases but isn't important enough for us to worry about the extra programming required, at least for the moment.

The reason for this? We're hoping you'll want to try future versions. Leaving the data there allows future versions to pick up where you left off.

How do I remove EVERYTHING from a Windows machine?

First, run the uninstaller.  Then, manually delete the .journalbetter directory, which, by Windows default, installs to c:\Users\[username]\ .journalbetter.
