Tagging FAQ

How do I create my own tags?

The Category View window works the same way as the Stream View and every other window in JournalBetter.  All the functions such as Enter, Ctrl + Enter,  drag and drop, and  edit (F2) are all available.

How do I tag a line of text?

Drag and drop the tag onto the line (to keep it in the Stream View).

Drag and drop the line onto the tag (to remove it from the Stream View).

***Remember that everything will always remain in the TimeLine View unless it is purposefully deleted with Ctrl + delete.

How can I tell whether a line is tagged?

Each tagged line will be shaded.

How can I tell which tag a line of text has?

Either, right-click on the shaded line or select the line of text

How do I remove a tag?

Open the tag view by clicking on the tag (in the Category View).  Then, select the line to have the tag removed and press the delete key.

This will remove the line from the tag view (window) because the tag has been removed.  But don't forget that the line still exists in the TimeLine View.

How do I change the tag associated with a line of text?

Changing a tag is currently a two-step process.  First, add the new tag and then remove the old tag.

Can I tag a line with more than one tag?

Absolutely.

Drag the tag onto the text to add additional tags.  (Dragging a line to a second tag, from left to right, will remove the first tag.)

Can I rearrange my tags?

Yes.

How do I rename a tag?

Select the tag in the Category View and press F2 to edit the tag name.
