Upgrading FAQ

If I upgrade to a newer version of JournalBetter will I lose everything I've entered so far? / Do I lose my data if I upgrade?

No.  The program and the database are two different things.  Upgrading the JournalBetter program does not affect the database, which is where all data is stored.  The upgrade process updates the program and leaves the database untouched.   Thus, all your entries are safe.  

What if I'd like to do a backup, just in case?

See the backup section. 

I tried to upgrade and I got a prompt to uninstall JournalBetter first.

We don't want to clutter up your computer with several copies of JournalBetter so the upgrade process detects and deletes older versions before installing the latest copy of the program.

Will I have multiple versions of JournalBetter on my computer?

No.  The previously installed version will be removed prior to installing the current version.
